Fort Bliss US Army Post.

Established in 1893, Fort Bliss is the second-largest U.S. Army installation in the country. Fort Bliss is home to more than 30,000 troops, and provides anti-aircraft and missile defense services, maintenance and training of Patriot Missile battalions. Live fire exercises, tank testing, missile launch exercises, and more. The post is also home to the Fort Bliss Museum and Biggs Army Airfield.


Biggs Army Air Field.

Originally established in 1916, Biggs Army Airfield (Biggs AAF) is an active military airport located at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. The airfield was decommissioned in 1966, but it was reactivated by the Army in 1973 as a permanent airfield. Today, Biggs AAF is the largest active army airfield in the world and is used by NASA as a layover point for the Space Shuttle carrier.

Museums at El Paso Fort Bliss Museum.

This interesting museum offers a variety of exhibits, artifacts, vehicles, weapons, and historical information about the U.S. Army and the Air Defense Artillery at El Paso. Open Mon-Sat, 9am-4:30pm. Closed on all Federal holidays. Admission is free.


Tigua Indian Cultural Center.

The Tigua Indian Cultural Center offers visitors a chance to experience 500 years of Pueblo history and tradition. Visitors will enjoy Native American dances, traditional songs, guided Pueblo tours, bread baking demonstrations, a museum, gift shops, and more.


Chamizal National Memorial.

This memorial commemorates the peaceful settlement of the Chamizal boundary dispute and offers a cultural center, art gallery, a museum, and an amphitheatre. The museum exhibits detail the history of the U.S.-Mexico border, with a focus on the more than 100-year-long Chamizal border dispute between the United States and Mexico.

The El Paso Museum of Art features an extensive permanent collection of more than 5,000 pieces, including 12th-18th century European art, pre-Columbian and Mexican colonial art, contemporary Southwestern and Mexican art, and more. In addition to its permanent collection, the museum also offers special exhibitions, art classes, films, lectures, concerts, and educational programs throughout the year.


War Eagles Air Museum.

This unique museum collects, restores and displays historic WWII and Korean Conflict era aircraft and highlights the history of U.S. military aviation with a focus on the significant role that airplanes, pilots and support crews played in these wars. Located at the Doña Ana County Airport, the museum is open to the public Tue-Sun, 10am-4pm. Admission is $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for senior and military. Children and students enter free.


Border Patrol Museum.

The Border Patrol Museum lets visitors journey through the history of the United States Border Patrol, from its beginnings in the Old West to its modern day operations. Their extensive collection includes paintings, photographs, guns, uniforms, vehicles, equipment, documents, and other artifacts. Open Tue-Sat, 9am-5pm. Admission is free.

Hueco Tanks State Park.

Located 32 miles outside of El Paso, Hueco Tanks State Park is an 860-acre park named for the large natural rock basins (huecos) that trap rainwater. In addition to these unique land features, the park also offers ancient rock paintings, a historic ranch house, and a stagecoach station. The park offers a range of outdoor activities, including picnic sites, camping, hiking, rock climbing, bird watching, bouldering, and free guided tours.


Franklin Mountain State Park In El Paso

El Paso’s stunning Franklin Mountains were protected in 1979 and opened as a public park area in 1987. The park overlooks the Rio Grande River, covers more than 24,000 acres, and features hiking and biking trails, rock climbing, tent camping, RV camping, and ranger-led tours on the first and third weekends of the month.


White Sands National Monument.

Home to one of the world's most beautiful natural wonders, Whit Sands National Monument features pristine white sand dunes made of gypsum sand. The park’s visitor center includes a museum, an orientation video, a bookstore and a gift shop. The Dunes Drive is an eight-mile-long scenic drive that takes visitors into the heart of the dune fields, with several wayside exhibits and pullouts where visitors can stop and walk in the white sands.


Indian Cliffs Ranch.

Indian Cliffs Ranch takes visitors back in time to visit the Old West as it once was. The ranch includes historic buildings and implements, including an antique wagon collection, a western town, a working stable, plus live animals, a playground and maze, a rattlesnake pit, and a popular restaurant.

Located in El Paso’s Lower Valley the historic Mission Trail follows the history of missionaries who came to El Paso to spread their Catholic faith. Three adobe churches - the Ysleta Mission, the Socorro Mission and the San Elizario Chapel - remain on the site and offer visitors a view into the lives of the missionaries and indigenous people who lived and worked here more than 400 years ago.


El Paso Zoo.

The El Paso Zoo features over 220 species of animals including elephants, lions, zebras, sea lions, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and other animals from around the world all displayed in naturalistic habitats. In addition to the animal exhibits, the zoo offers a range of kid-friendly activities, live animal presentations, special activities, events, a restaurant and a gift shop. Open daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year’s Day. Admission prices range from $3-5. Children age 2 and under enter free.


Magoffin Home State Historic Site.

Located in downtown El Paso, this historic home was built in 1875 by El Paso pioneer Joseph Magoffin. The Territorial-style mansion was constructed from adobe, and features 19 rooms with Victorian-era décor and furnishings, plus several outbuildings and gardens. Open Tue-Sun, 9am-5pm, with guided tours offered on the hour.

Viva El Paso

Viva El Paso (Seasonal).

This exciting musical drama showcases the cultural history of El Paso, with performances detailing 400 years of Native American, Spanish, Mexican, and Western American history through traditional dances, songs and traditional costumes. The exhibition is performed at McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre and is one of El Paso's top summertime attractions. Performances held Fri-Sat, 8:30pm from June through August.


Alfresco! Fridays.

Experience some of the best local bands in El Paso at this ongoing summer concert series held at the Arts Festival Plaza. The weekly concerts include something for every age ad taste, from big band jazz to Latin, classic rock, rockabilly, and more. The free events are held at 5:30pm each Friday, from May to August.


Plaza Theatre.

Originally opened in 1930, this historic theater is one of El Paso’s best-known landmarks. Fully restored in 2002, the theater is still in operation and offers a wide schedule of programming, from Broadway theater productions to live concerts, dance performances, film festivals, live speakers, and more.

El Paso Diablos at Cohen Stadium.

The El Paso Diablos are an AAIP professional baseball team, established in 1892, when the team was originally called the El Paso Browns. The Diablos play their home games at Cohen Stadium, which was built to replace the aging Dudley Dome. Named after the team’s famous Cohen brothers, Cohen Stadium was erected in 1989 and features seating for up to 9,725 fans, food concessions, picnic areas, and a team store. The stadium also hosts a wide range of special events throughout the year, including rodeos, concerts, soccer events, boxing, and more.


Sun Bowl Stadium In El Paso
