Fort Bliss US Army Post.
Established in 1893, Fort Bliss is the second-largest U.S. Army installation in the country. Fort Bliss is home to more than 30,000 troops, and provides anti-aircraft and missile defense services, maintenance and training of Patriot Missile battalions. This interesting museum offers a variety of exhibits, artifacts, vehicles, weapons, and historical information about the U.S. Army and the Air Defense Artillery at El Paso. Open Mon-Sat, 9am-4:30pm. Closed on all Federal holidays. Admission is free. [Top]
Biggs Army Air Field.
Originally established in 1916, Biggs Army Airfield (Biggs AAF) is an active military airport located at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. The airfield was decommissioned in 1966, but it was reactivated by the Army in 1973 as a permanent airfield. Biggs Army Airfield is the host of El Paso’s popular annual Amigo Airsho, an aircraft festival held on the airfield each October.
